Ping Pong Pool Projection Mapping | Dawn Of Man at the Mondrian South Beach | Art Basel

Ping Pong Pool Projection Mapping | Dawn Of Man at the Mondrian South Beach | Art Basel from Dawn Of Man on Vimeo.

Dawn Of Man was invited by the Mondrian South Beach to create a large-scale, interactive video art installation to light up the hotel for the week of Art Basel.

We were immediately drawn to the Mondrian’s 90 foot, rainbow shaped pool, as the prime surface to animate and illuminate. The solution for turning the pool into a useable projection surface? Filling it with 250,000 ping pong balls, and projecting onto the resulting surface from a balcony suite on the top floor. The end result transformed the bayside pool into an uncharted realm of ping pong ball and video art revelry, and set the stage for the wild rumpus of Art Basel after parties to hold court.
